A pretty solid application that does approximately what we are proposing to do (without sensing exercise). Foods can be added via category, search, or custom entry. Foods can be favoritized. There is no concept of meals. The home page provides a summary of where you are in relation to your caloric goal and how your consumption stacks up in terms of nutritional composition.

This screen displays on the app's first load and can be edited later via settings. The information is used to generate a daily kcal goal.

The above screenshots were taken by scrolling down the home screen. The summary at the top lets you know how you're doing in comparison to your daily goal, both in terms of total kcal and and by category breakdown. The various sections underneath (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack, Other, Exercise) show the entered values and give a button for adding additional values.

This is the screen that is reached when you try to add a food into the dinner section. Food can be added via: (1) Favorites; (2) Search; (3) Drilling down into the categories.
